Introduction to Library services

The role of the University Library

Biblioteka

The University Library in Toruń is a centre of knowledge and research that supports the development of the entire academic community of NCU.

It offers access to a wide range of printed and electronic collections – from classic books and journals to modern online databases available 24/7. It is a place for discovering and applying knowledge. Librarians are always ready to assist with academic research, while the Library’s spaces provide excellent conditions for both individual and group work – whether research- or teaching-oriented.

Our Library also offers convenient spaces for the exchange of ideas, from study and teamwork rooms to meeting facilities such as an auditorium.

University Museum

plac Mariana Rapackiego 1, 87-100 Toruń

A place where history meets art and culture – all in the unique atmosphere of our University. Here you can see not only exceptional memorabilia related to the history of NCU (such as rector’s robes, insignia, and portraits of rectors) but also immerse yourself in the world of art. Two permanent exhibitions are hosted here: the first tells the story of the University’s rich tradition, while the second presents the works of Polish émigré painters active in the United Kingdom in the 20th century. The Museum also regularly organises temporary exhibitions that reveal hidden aspects of history and art – both from its own collections and from befriended institutions. It is a journey through the history of NCU – from its Vilnius roots to contemporary times. It allows visitors to see art from a new perspective and to experience the unique spirit of the University.

Archives of Polish Emigration

It is a unique place that preserves the traces of life and creative work of Polish artists, writers, scholars and publishers who lived and worked abroad after 1939. Its collections include not only manuscripts, documents or private libraries, but also complete archives of editorial offices, publishing houses and institutions operating in exile. It is a true treasure trove of knowledge and the most important centre in Poland documenting the cultural achievements of the Polish émigré community of the 20th century – a place that reveals how rich and diverse was the creative output of the Polish intelligentsia and cultural elites forced to leave their homeland.

The collections of the Archives of Polish Emigrations are temporarily unavailable.
Acccess will be restored in January 2026.
