Nicolaus Copernicus University Repository - legal aspects
The right to deposit in the UMK Repository belongs to authors affiliated with UMK. In the case of co-authorship, the consent of the co-authors to the deposit is required. The depositor is responsible for the authenticity and reliability of the data.
It is recommended to check the agreements with the publisher or the publisher's policy regarding the publication of works in the institutional repository (e.g. the Open Policy Finder database). By depositing publications in the repository on their own, the depositor automatically gives their copyright consent to their publication (see the Depositor's Declaration).
Depositing works in the repository does not mean transferring the copyright to UMK. The Repository is not a publisher, but an archive of digital objects.
The materials available in the Repository are protected by copyright; if they are not provided with a free license, the rigors of this law apply.
Digital copies of materials shared in the Repository may be:
- reproduced, cited, processed for personal, educational, scientific and other purposes, transferred to closest friends in accordance with permitted use, free of charge.
Access to deposited materials may be closed at the justified request of the author/copyright holder if the law is violated. Permissible reasons for closing access to publications: verified copyright infringement, plagiarism and other legal requirements related to, for example, falsification of research. Publications are not deleted from the repository literally, but moved to closed archiving. URL addresses will not be removed to maintain continuity of citations, only the reason for the lack of access to the publication will be explained, or redirection to a new version, if available.
In necessary cases, subsequent versions of the same publication can be deposited, providing appropriate information in the description.
