Elsevier Open Publishing Program 2026
Elsevier open publishing program available in 2026
Elsevier's national open access publishing program was resumed on May 20, 2026, with a pool of 1,084 articles for 2026 for all Polish institutions covered by the national license. The program allows authors affiliated with Nicolaus Copernicus University to publish open access articles in Elsevier hybrid journals. Publishing in the program means that the APC fee is covered in the license (the costs of publishing articles under the program will be paid from funds from the Ministry of Education and Science).
The publisher does not provide for the possibility of retroactivating articles accepted for publication in 2026 before the launch of the program
Using OA publishing requires completing the final settlement form sent by the editorial office after the positive conclusion of the review stage. Only articles accepted for publication after the launch of the program can be covered by the open publishing program.
The corresponding author, whose article has been reviewed and accepted for publication, receives a link to the Rights and Access form from Elsevier. The form is used to select a publication in the subscription or open access model (gold open access) and allows you to use the program for Polish authors. In the form, you must indicate UMK, in accordance with the affiliation or one of the affiliations assigned to the corresponding author on the title page of the article. The form will automatically display to the author the option of open publication under the program and exemption from the APC fee. According to the agreement, the corresponding author is the sole author who manages the article publication process from submission to acceptance and corresponds with Elsevier on this matter.
