Elsevier Open Publishing Program 2026

Elsevier's open publishing program is available under a national license coordinated by ICM UW.

The program will resume once ICM UW receives funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for 2026 and a new agreement with Elsevier is signed. ICM UW, as the coordinator of the national license, anticipates that the renewal will occur no later than May 2026, similar to 2025.

Articles accepted for publication in 2026 after signing an agreement with Elsevier will be eligible for the program, and the date of sending the article to the journal does not matter.

The publisher does not provide for the possibility of retroactivating articles accepted for publication in 2026 before the launch of the program

The program allows authors with UMK affiliation to publish articles in OA mode for free.

Using OA publishing requires completing the final settlement form sent by the editorial office after the positive conclusion of the review stage. Only articles accepted for publication after the launch of the program can be covered by the open publishing program.

The corresponding author, whose article has been reviewed and accepted for publication, receives a link to the Rights and Access form from Elsevier. The form is used to select a publication in the subscription or open access model (gold open access) and allows you to use the program for Polish authors. In the form, you must indicate UMK, in accordance with the affiliation or one of the affiliations assigned to the corresponding author on the title page of the article. The form will automatically display to the author the option of open publication under the program and exemption from the APC fee.

The costs of publishing articles under the program will be paid from funds from the Ministry of Education and Science.
