Summary conference - July 9, 2021

A conference summarizing the three-year period of the project "Digitization of the academic resources of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region for the needs of science and education throughout the country", which involved many librarians, archivists, conservators and digitization technicians from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz.
 

The result of this work is 28 thousand never before digitally published, in many cases unique materials that enriched the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Digital Library. The collections of several institutions were digitized: the University Library in Toruń, the Archives of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, the Library of the Kazimierz Wielki University, the Copernican Library in Toruń, as well as the Museum of Education and the Museum of Polish Diplomacy and Refugees in Bydgoszcz. In addition, 15 thousand. records of copies of bibliographic descriptions from catalogs of university libraries of NCU and UKW were retroconverted, which allows for a total of 43 thousand. new documents on the open Internet.

During the conference, works carried out under the project will be presented, as well as selected collections digitized and published in KPBC. The organizer of the project is the University Library in Toruń - the project leader.

TEXTUS ET PICTURA III: Medieval handwritten codex as a subject of interdisciplinary studies

A meeting informing about the resources developed as part of the project for the academic, regional and local community as part of the third nationwide interdisciplinary scientific conference TEXTUS ET PICTURA III: Medieval handwritten code as a subject of interdisciplinary studies, December 12-13, 2019, organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the University Library in Torun.

As part of the fifth block of the conference: Handwritten Code as a digital object, a collection of medieval manuscripts from the collections of the University Library in Toruń will be presented, which will be made available as part of the POPC project at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Digital Library. Their state of preservation and the process of preparation for conservation before digitization will also be discussed. Moreover, the method of disseminating medieval manuscripts using the OMEKA S open source software will be presented, based on the example of the exhibition On the benefits of digital books.
