ACS Open Publishing Program 2026
The ACS Open Access Program, available under a consortium license, is intended for corresponding authors affiliated with Nicolaus Copernicus University. Nicolaus Copernicus University is a member of the ACS consortium, coordinated by the ICM UW.
The program will be resumed in 2026 after the Ministry of Science and Higher Education awards ICM UW funding for the consortium for 2026 and after ICM UW concludes a new agreement with ACS for 2026-2028, and will cover articles accepted for publication in 2026.
The open publishing program will cover articles accepted for publication in 2026.
The number of articles in 2026 will be approximately 470, but it depends on the final list of consortium participants and the cost of the license.
Articles published in the subscription model in ACS hybrid journals in 2026 before the launch of the program will then be able to be converted to the open model under the program (“retroactivation”). Authors who publish open access articles at their own expense in ACS hybrid or open access journals in 2026 before the program launch will not be eligible for reimbursement under the program.
The program includes all article types except: Additions and Corrections, Expressions of Concern, Retraction, In This Issue, Introducing our Authors.
The program allows for open publication under the CC-BY license without fees for authors of a specified number of articles accepted for publication in the current year (note: the “Manuscript Acceptance Date” sometimes referred to in articles as “Revised” is decisive). The pool of articles available in a given year is not divided between institutions, articles are included in the program in the order of acceptance for publication.
