Lecture by Austrian diplomat and historian Jakub Forst-Battaglia, PhD

The Russian-Ukrainian conflict from the perspective of an Austrian diplomat and historian will be the topic of a lecture by Jakub Forst-Battaglia, PhD. The initiator of the meeting, which will start on October 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Nicolaus Copernicus University Library in auditorium no. 8, is Prof. Bogusław Dybaś from the Department of Military History of the Institute of History and Archival Studies of the Nicolaus Copernicus University.

Jakub Forst-Battaglia, PHD - historian and Slavicist, publicist and researcher, PhD in the history of Eastern Europe and modern history. Mr. Battaglia was a lecturer at the University of Vienna and then an employee of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Austrian radio station ORF. In 1981, he began his diplomatic career, working in Moscow, Madrid, Prague, Tallinn and Kiev. In 2001-2006 he served as Austrian ambassador to Estonia, and then director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Ukraine (2011-2015). He is the author of Polnisches Wien (1983), cultural and historical guides to Poland (1980) and Hungary (1984), as well as numerous articles on the history of Poland and the Habsburg Monarchy.

The organizers of the event are the University Library in Toruń, the Department of Military History of the Institute of History and Archival Science of the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Warsaw - a platform for dialogue, cultural and social exchange, implementing cultural and scientific projects and events aimed at mutual knowledge and establishing lasting contacts between Poland and Austria.
