The aim of the conference, entitled Saving from oblivion: from the history of the veterinary university in Lviv, is the popularization of the history of the Polish-language veterinary university existing in Lviv in the years 1881-1939. It will be accompanied by an exhibition illustrating the history of the Lviv university, created as part of the project Innovative approach to historical heritage: scientific heritage of veterinary medicine of the Polish-Ukrainian border VetHeritage, implemented in 2021-2023, financed by the European Union under the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine Cross-border Cooperation program 2014-2020 of the European Neighborhood Instrument implemented by the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, the Lublin Medical and Veterinary Chamber and the Podkarpacka Medical and Veterinary Chamber.

The main task of the project was to digitize historical resources regarding Polish-language veterinary education in Lviv from 1881-1939 collected at the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology. Documents and photographs from private collections, provided by the families of graduates of the Academy of Veterinary Medicine in Lviv Podkarpacka and the Lublin Chamber of Veterinary Medicine and located in the State Archives in Przemyśl, were also digitized. During work on the project, over 5,000 scans of publications, documents, photographs and photos of exhibits scattered around the Lviv university were made.
