On December 28 last year, during the ceremonial session of the Toruń City Council, organized on the 790th anniversary of Toruń obtaining city rights, the University Library of the Nicolaus Copernicus University was honored with a commemorative medal issued on the occasion of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus.

In this way, the local government authorities appreciated the contribution of the university library to the development and cultivation of Toruń's cultural heritage and the preservation of the Copernican tradition. The medal was received by the director of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Library, Dr. Krzysztof Nierzwicki, from the mayor of Toruń.
