Love does not exist... - meeting with Prof. Tomasz Szlendak

On February 25 at 4 p.m., we invite you to a meeting with Prof. Tomasz Szlendak, PhD – researcher at the Institute of Sociology at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, director of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of Social Sciences at NCU, author of the book Love does not exist. Relationships, dating and solo life in the 21st century.  The discussion will be moderated by Milena Śliwińska, PhD - the University Library director.

The meeting, which will take place at the NCU's Main Library (Gagarina 13 Street, 2nd floor), is organised by the University Library and the NCU's Institute of Sociology.

Prof. Szlendak's latest book reflects on the collapse of the myth of romantic love that has shaped Western societies for centuries and questions the impact of late capitalism, technological development and deepening social divisions on relationships. It is also an attempt to answer the question of why love has ceased to be synonymous with happiness for women, while for many men it has become unattainable, and... whether the end of love means the beginning of something new. The author offers an accessible, sociological account of contemporary relationships.

We cordially invite you to attend.
