The University Library in Toruń cordially invites you to a curator's tour of the exhibition Between/Inter BASIA SOKOŁOWSKA, which will take place on 9 January at 3 p.m. at the Nicolaus Copernicus University Museum. It will be a unique opportunity to meet the artist, talk, exchange reflections and opinions.

The exhibition, which will be on display until 13 February, features 30 photographs by Basia Sokołowska from four series: Interior/Mieszkanie (1993), Poza powierzchnię/Beyond Surface (1994), Ars Moriendi (1998) and Tkanki/Adaptation (2005). The exhibition was prepared as part of the Vintage Photo Festival. 

The works refer to the tradition of still life and address the duality of the world of dreams and reality, overcoming internal barriers and maturing, transience, the cyclical nature of life and death, and adaptation on many levels and in many contexts. They show the process of change taking place in the artist's life and psyche, the multi-layered nature of the world around her. Veiled and mysterious, they arouse curiosity and anxiety, they resonate. They engage emotionally and physically. They build mood, they are sincere and open to interpretation. The artist uses collage techniques, creates spatial photographic compositions, emphasises detail, colour and texture, and stages scenes.

All the works shown in the exhibition are a gift from Basia Sokołowska to the University Museum.
