Professional background:She is the author of numerous articles on scientific information, Internet, evaluation of electronic resources, open access, e-learning and other technologies connected with librarian's work, teaches courses on search strategies and quality of information, electronic databases, online catalogues, e-journals, digital libraries and other Internet aspects - the courses are given in the framework of Postgraduate Study in Programming and Application of Computers, and of Postgraduate Study "Information Technology in Science Education" at the Institute of Physics, Nicolaus Copernicus University. Until the 1998 she is working as an Editor in Chief of Bulletin EBIB - open access journal and Electronic Library service for Polish librarians http://www.ebib.info/ and until 2005 as an editor in the international E-LIS repository for librarians http://eprints.rclis.org/. She was deputy Director of Nicolaus Copernicus University Library 2002-2006 and now she is coordinator of regional project - Kujawsko-Pomorska Digital Library http://kpbc.umk.pl.

Key Qualifications:

  • She teaches courses on search strategies and information quality evaluation, electronic data, databases, on-line catalogues, e-journals, digital libraries and other Internet resources - the courses are given in the framework of Post Graduate Study in Programming and Application of Computers, and of Post Graduate Study "Information Technology in Science Education" at the Institute of Physics, at the Department of Librarianship and Information Science of Nicolaus Copernicus University;
  • Since 1993, she has organized library trainings and on the use of data sources for students and workers of N. Copernicus University; also trainings on the use of modern electronic data sources, digital libraries, open access, source quality evaluation and web design for employees of the Main Library, N. Copernicus University;
  • She is an author of numerous articles on scientific information, Internet, electronic data evaluation, open access, e-learning, digital libraries and new technologies connected with librarian's work;
  • She also trains librarians in the use of the open access Internet resources in their work, open educational materials, quality of information;
  • She organizes conferences and seminars at Nicolaus Copernicus University in the framework of modern librarianship, technologies and new models of scientific communication;
  • She promotes open access among the Polish librarians society until 2001 in EBIB portal: http://www.ebib.info/content/category/8/102/79/

  • She cooperates also with IFL as a Polish Coordinator to promote open access in Polish scientific society.

  1. 1999 Participation in the international programme and on-line course of European Union for libraries DEDICATE, concerning the e-learning; has completed the Internet course on data search for students of physics at N. Copernicus University.

Private: In her spare time, she is an volunteer in librarians professional associations. She has a family: a husband, three great kids and three cats. She lives close Torun (center of Poland), on the village Pluskowęsy, in close proximity of a beautiful stretch of forest and lake. She is interested in jazz, literature, political and economical issues, doe's sports - biking and swimming and she is a total optimist.
